Mathew Thibodeaux

Meet Mathew Thibodeaux, our Strength Engineer! Mat was born and raised in Lafayette, LA and has a B.S. degree in Business Informatics from University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He spends most of his free time playing video games, working out at Red’s Health Club, and going to concerts.

How did you get started in IT?

“Growing up my family was really good at breaking technology and I was stuck to fix it if I wanted to use it. I originally wanted to be an Application Developer and eventually go into Video Game Development. Not long after starting my Computer Science classes in college I realized that while I enjoyed coding, I really liked the troubleshooting part of it. From there, I was directed to Informatics and not long after that I started working for Taylor Toce before Velo IT Group became what it is today.”

What do you consider your greatest strength?

“I believe my greatest strength is being able to troubleshoot problems. This seems pretty IT oriented, but when you think about it, every problem requires some sort of troubleshooting and can be resolved very similarly. Start with the most broad, obvious resolution and the drill down to more detailed resolution until the desired outcome has been achieved.”

Why did you chose to work at Velo?

“I chose Velo for several reasons. The drive and energy that is constantly flowing through the office will push anyone to be motivated to take on any obstacle. The experience that is gained on a daily basis is no contest compared to anyone else in the field. And finally, the support you feel from the other members of the team makes it feel more like a family.”
